Topic: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

An application requires a development environment (DEV) and production environment (PROD) for several years. The DEV instances will run for 10 hours each day during normal business hours, while the PROD instances will run 24 hours each day. A solutions architect needs to determine a compute instance purchase strategy to minimize costs.
Which solution is the MOST cost-effective?

A.
DEV with Spot Instances and PROD with On-Demand Instances
B.
DEV with On-Demand Instances and PROD with Spot Instances
C.
DEV with Scheduled Reserved Instances and PROD with Reserved Instances
D.
DEV with On-Demand Instances and PROD with Scheduled Reserved Instances

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

My vote is C. DEV with Scheduled Reserved Instances and PROD with Reserved Instance. But for Prod it says just 'Reserved' instances instead of Standard Reserved.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

probably assumed it is standard reserved

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

DEV with Scheduled Reserved Instances : We dont know which 10 hours out of 24, it could be intermittent and sporadic

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

"for 10 hours each day during normal business hours" ~> NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS is the key. So we know exactly when the DEV environments should be available...

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

I agree, answer is C

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

'C' must be true but as of today (05/03/21) - AWS do not have any capacity for purchasing Scheduled Reserved Instances or any plans to make it available in the future. To reserve capacity, use On-Demand Capacity Reservations instead.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

It should be C. Standard Reserved for Prod and Scheduled Reserved for Dev is what we run in my company.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

but jus know reserved scheduled instances are now defunct you now use on demand for it

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

answer is C. since the requirement is for 7 years and reserved instances is the best option.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

Correct answer must have been on demand for dev and reserved instances for prod, because schedules reserved instances are no longer available

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

whole answers anymore wrong
scheled reserved instances dont exist anymore

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

Absolutely I agree, answer is D

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

C, Schedule reserved instances should be surfficient

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

I would go for D since as of today the Scheduled Reserved Instanced are not available and On-Demand is a feasible alternative

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

My vote is C. Choose Reserved Instances

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

Answer is C

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

There are two confuse things.
1. Scheduled Reserved Instances are not available these days( policy problems)
2. The qestion mentioned cost-effectiveness, but on-demand is expensive ever

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

You cannot purchase Scheduled Reserved Instances at this time. AWS does not have any capacity available for Scheduled Reserved Instances or any plans to make it available in the future. To reserve capacity, use On-Demand Capacity Reservations instead. For discounted rates, use Savings Plans.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

A is way too costly.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

So the answer should be on-demand for dev and reserved for prod.

Re: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 94

D. If I were to answer this question today, I will choose D and this is my reason: You cannot purchase Scheduled Reserved Instances at this time. AWS does not have any capacity available for Scheduled Reserved Instances or any plans to make it available in the future. To reserve capacity, use On-Demand Capacity Reservations instead.
